Pre Raphaelites in a weightless underwater slow motion theatre.
After spending many years as a professional portrait painter, I swapped my paintbrush for pixels,
partnering my love for Renaissance and Pre Raphaelite art with my thalassophobia, creating pieces that dream of death in deep water, the fear of sinking downwards and never finding the bottom, of that airless gasp that jolts you awake...
These images are taken through glass at one of the UK's only underwater studios.

Dance BY Patrizia Burra
Our Second Place Winner was submitted by
Patrizia Burra from Udine, Italy
I am a painter and photographer. Painting gives a lot of energy, but it doesn't allows you to catch the moment. This is one of the main factor that lead me to the conclusion that I could not be a painter only. My goal, as photographer, is to translate my more wild, passionate and restless vision into an image.
"With photography we try to reproduce the world. But the world is much more interesting when it becomes a work of art".
I think that photography and the images we create, are the realities transformed into dreams. Our life needs imagination, emotions, an inner impulse that leads us to create. I work every day and many hours a day. This is my way of venting, a road that may be open to everything. And it is in that way that I feel free to create. Here wonderful things can happen. Here, in this fantasy world, my creatures come to life by participating in my dreams.
