Our free photography contest recommendation of the day! Once again we invite young photojournalists to the 5th LUMIX Festival for Young Photojournalism to compete for one of the 60 photography exhibitions and the FREELENS Award endowed with EUR 10,000. Furthermore two »Honorable Mentions« including prize money of EUR 1,000 each will be awarded.
Until 31st January 2016 young photographers up to 35 years can submit their reportages, photo essays or serial works (i.e. portrait series) with journalistic character. It is allowed to submit work in both categories, the FREELENS Award and the LUMIX Multimedia Award. For the 5th LUMIX Festival Panasonic again donates the LUMIX Multimedia Award endowed with EUR 5,000 for the best journalistic multimedia production. The best submissions will be shown during the festival. As with the FREELENS Award the photographer has to be under the age of 35 and the work must show a journalistic character. It is allowed to submit work for both categories, the FREELENS Award and the LUMIX Multimedia Award. The Lammerhuber Photography Award, which is endowed by the publishing house EDITION Lammerhuber, was established at the 3rd LUMIX Festival in 2012. The prize honoures the reportage or series of the Festival that tells the most impressive story of everyday life. You do not need to extra apply for this award. The winner will be chosen out of the 60 exhibitions shown at the festival. The Lammerhuber Photography Award underlines the philosophy of the LUMIX Festival, which is that the aim of humanist photojournalism should be to examine all facets of life. The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000. The photographer and publisher Lois Lammerhuber is one of the most outstanding personalities in photography in his home country of Austria. Aside from several prizes for his work in photography, he has also won many awards for his photo books over the past years. In 2013 Edition Lammerhuber has been announced Best Publishing House for Photobooks at the FEP European Photo Book of the Year Awards. In 2015 it won again in the category Nature Photography. An international jury of multimedia experts chooses the winner of the LUMIX Multimedia Award out of the featured multimedia productions. Street Photography is the theme for this months competition.

Show us your best frames and moments captured and presented using the power of the Street Photography! Last year, we received more than 200 submissions from 15 countries, with both companies and amateur photo enthusiasts across the globe participating. Send us your best shots and you could win cash and be published in ELEVATOR WORLD magazine! We look forward to viewing the elevator world through your unique lens. An EW panel of judges will first choose up to 20 finalists from each category. Those finalists will then be presented online during the month of May 2016 where our readers will vote and ultimately decide the best of the best. Our free photography contest recommendation of the day! After a big success with the 2015 HT Photo Contest, in which 191 readers participated, we are happy to announce the 8th edition of the event, one for each year of our online publication.
This year there are six categories and each carries with it a First Prize of US $75. There will also be one special mention per category. All finalist and semifinalist photos will be published and prominently displayed by HT. Contest rules Professional and amateur photographers of all ages and nationalities may participate. You may submit a maximum of 3 photos for each of the first five categories, and between 3 and 10 photos for the special “Stories” category. The photographs must all be taken in Cuba, and must comply with the following categories: 1 – Family 2 – Cuban inventions 3 – Landscapes 4 – Children 5 – Machismo 6 – Stories (for this special category you can submit from 3 to 10 pictures). Running alongside the Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s largest photography competition, the ZEISS Photography Award “Seeing Beyond” invites photographers to submit work responding to the brief “meaningful places” by 5th February 2016.
One winning photographer will be given a free choice of ZEISS camera lenses worth €15,000 (Euros), the opportunity to work individually with ZEISS and will be flown to London to collect the award at the Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony in April 2016. The award is free to enter and will be judged by a distinguished panel of industry experts. The theme for the award’s inaugural year is “meaningful places”. Photographers are asked to see beyond ordinary places and document the importance of a particular place or collection of places that somehow bear significance to each other. Bodies of work should include a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 images and particular attention should be given to the edit of your work.
